A Millennial in Cottonwood Bark

IMG_5849This was a fun guy to do.  My July 2016 project I guess. Shop has been so hot, I have not carved out there much.  I left the eyes without pupils.  Alec Lacasse does that and I think its a nice touch artistically.   You should check out his stuff for sure.  Here is his link.  I took a lesson off him last year and will be scheduling another one. He is pretty amazing.  Click Alec Lacasse Artist and Sculptor.

My First Carving

Wood Carving 002I remember doing this first face carving   and being excited that I actually carved a face.  It sure looks lame now, but everyone has to start some where. Improving comes with time and the only way to be a better carver is to carve.  I missed a year or so carving when I had my neck fused and a few month when I recently tore out my bicep, but lately I am trying to carve more consistently so I can continue to enjoy carving and improve.I carved the one on the right a few months after that first face in 2008.  It sure looks lame now, but everyone has to start some where.
